Situated close to the Spa town of Royal Tunbridge Wells, the Crown Inn
provides an excellent base for touring this wonderful part of the world.
In the 1600`s the spa was discovered and it soon became a fashionable place
visited by many famous people including royalty. The Pantiles are well worth
a visit. In the summer numerous musical events are held on the Bandstand
and local and foreign markets are held regularly.

||Across the field from the Crown is Groombridge
Place, an attraction with lovely gardens and an Enchanted Forest
that is magical for children of all ages. It is open from April
to October and holds a variety of themed activities during the summer.
We are a stone`s throw from the East Sussex border and ideally located
in Kent 'The Garden of England'. Here you will find some of England's
best loved stately homes and historic castles including Hever Castle, Leeds
Castle, Scotney Castle, Penshurst Place and Chartwell, the home of Winston
A short drive away is the Ashdown Forest an area of outstanding natural
beauty which is open to the public for walking, cycling, and horse riding.
In the village of Hartfield you can visit the Winnie the Pooh shop and the
famous Pooh bridge.
The Crown is situated in the heart of the Kentish Weald and has some of
the most beautiful countryside to explore.

rambles. The Ashdown Forest is the largest public access site in S.E. England
and you can walk, cycle, and horse ride there.
There are two lovely cycling routes. The Forest Way track a 10 mile route
from Forest Way to Groombridge passing through East Grinstead and the Cuckoo
Line from Eridge, south of Groombridge to Polegate passing through open
countryside The tracks are shared with ramblers and horse riders.
About 3 miles from the Crown is an excellent climbing centre called Evolution
a modern indoor arena located on the Kent/Sussex border which has good facilities
including an abseiling tower and a Board training room. It is suitable for
all ages and abilities.
Also in Groombridge are Harrisons Rocks an area with rocks having a variety
of climbs for different abilities.
This area has many quality golf courses including the Neville at Crowborough
Beacon and Sweetwoods Park a challenging 72 par course set in a stunning
part of the Wealden area. Next to Sweetwoods is Holtye another lovely course
Lingfield Park course near to the race course is also quite a challenge.
At Nutley in the Ashdown Forest is a riding school from where you can explore
the many bridleways around the Forest. Ashdown Forest Riding School can

Dorset Arms Angling Club is actually based out of The Crown Inn,
as the lakes are in Burrswood next to us.
